Post-classification of Misclassified Pixels by Evidential Reasoning: a Gis Approach for Improving Classification Accuracy of Remote Sensing Data
This paper discusses an approach for extracting supporting evidence from multisource spatial data and by rule-based models to incorporate the evidence with pre-classified Landsat TM data for improving classification accuracy. The process was focused on the extracted "possibly misclassified pixels" (PMPs) only. Based on Dempster-Shafer's theory of evidence, the concepts of homogeneous, heterogen...
متن کاملEvidential Reasoning in Semantic Networks: A Formal Theory
This paper presents an evidential approach to knowledge representation and inference wherein the principle of maximum entropy is applied to deal with uncertainty and incompleteness. It focuses on a restricted representation language similar in expressive power to semantic network formalisms, and develops a formal theory of evidential inheritance within this language. The theory applies to a lim...
متن کاملA New Conditioning Rule, Its Generalization and Evidential Reasoning
Abstract In Evidence theory, several conditioning rules for updating belief have been proposed, including Dempster’s rule of conditioning. The paper views the conditioning rules proposed so far and proposes a new rule of conditioning based on three requirements. Then, it generalizes the rule to be applied to the case where condition is given by an uncertain belief. The paper also discusses a fe...
متن کاملIntroduction to the ER Rule for Evidence Combination
The Evidential Reasoning (ER) approach has been developed to support multiple criteria decision making (MCDM ) under uncertainty. It is built upon Dempster’s rule for evidence combination and uses belief functions for dealing with probabilistic uncertainty and ignorance. In this introductory paper, following a brief introduction to Dempster’s rule and the ER approach, we report the discovery of...
متن کاملSubjective Evidential Reasoning
This paper describes a framework for combining and assessing subjective evidence from different sources. The approach is based on the DempsterShafer belief theory, but instead of using Dempster’s rule we introduce a new rule called the consensus operator that is based on statistical inference. We show how this framework can be applied to subjective evidential reasoning.
